CCSA welcomes the PaPUC’s decision to approve the settlement agreement reached in the PPL Electric rate case, with the modification to include an exemption for certain agricultural projects. It sends an important signal of regulatory certainty for the treatment of net-metered projects. Importantly, it protects projects in advanced stages of development that made investments under existing rate structures, while ensuring a robust compensation structure for future development.
Developers, customers, and financiers will now have clearer expectations about how projects will be treated in PPL’s service territory. It is encouraging to see decisions that encourage investment in clean, local generation at a time when additional power is needed in Pennsylvania.
