Statement from Kate Daniel, Northeast Regional Director for the Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA), on the Massachusetts Legislature’s inaction on climate legislation this session:
“We are disappointed at the Legislature’s failure to act on climate legislation this session. The clean energy siting and permitting reforms under consideration were the result of months of work from a comprehensive coalition of stakeholders, who reached unprecedented agreement on how to solve these tough issues. This legislation also passed out of both Chambers, reflecting how popular the policy reform was with all lawmakers.
But as is too often the case these days, politics got in the way of passing sensible legislation that would have solved very real problems Massachusetts is facing.
This inaction will hamper the community solar and supporting infrastructure we need to meet our climate mandates, address energy equity, and sustain good paying green jobs. We hope legislative leaders will rethink this decision and act immediately to enact the hard-fought consensus around energy siting and permitting reform.”
