Coalition for Community Solar Access Statement on President Biden Signing the Inflation Reduction Act into Law

Washington, D.C. — Following is a statement from Jeff Cramer, President and CEO, Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA):

“The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, signed into law today by President Biden, is a transformational investment in America’s climate future and potential game changer for Americans who lack access to affordable solar energy. It puts the country on a pathway to significantly reduce its carbon emissions, strengthen our energy security, and create clean energy jobs.

CCSA and its many coalition partners applaud President Biden and Congress for passing a climate bill we can be proud of.

This legislation doubles down on the important role that community solar will play in our nation’s clean energy future, and underscores its financial advantages for hard-working Americans. The solar investment tax credit extension includes key provisions that will propel our industry forward, including low to moderate-income bonus credits and the inclusion of interconnection costs within the credit, and $7 billion in incentives for states to create and expand distributed solar programs.

This clean energy bill will result in unprecedented long-term certainty for the market and incentives for states to deploy more community solar and storage projects that increase grid resiliency, create family sustaining jobs, and build a more clean, affordable, and equitable electric grid.

We look forward to assisting the Administration and stakeholders to successfully implement the Act throughout the US and we couldn’t be more excited to get to work.”
